Ermenegildo Zegna and Maserati’s partnership was inaugurated in early 2013 and to further consolidate their partnership they are all set to face the next venture in sailing VOR 70 Maserati-the 47th edition of the Transpac Race from Los Angeles to Honolulu scheduled to be held on July 2013.
Gildo Zegna and John Elkann have decided to strengthen the collaboration between the two brands in the area of the fascinating oceanic challenges, led by Giovanni Soldini that will last till the summer of 2014. They have also launched a three year project with Maserati with a limited-edition collection 100 of the flagship Quattroporte made with exclusive interior fabric from Lanificio Zegna of Trivero.
VOR 70 Maserati left the Point Fermin near Los Angeles on July 13, 2013 on a direct passage to Diamond Head Lighthouse in Honolulu. The boat will cover the 2,225 nautical miles of the Transpac Race by deploying its spinnaker with trade winds in its favor. John Elkann will also be a part of the Transpac crew, all of whom will wear technical garments produced by Zegna Sport. The collection which will be worn by everyone including John Elkann provides the men with high-performance gear, innovative in the extreme comfort of the fabrics.
The collection is made of Techmerino fabric- a 100 percent natural fiber treated with technical finishing and made with pure Merino wool enabling Zegna Sport to ensure maximum comfort within competitive as well as dynamic contexts where the fit of the garment must perfectly support the movements of the body.
The collections include outerwear consisting of a jacket and vest in technical fabric, slim fit long and short cotton pants, cotton t-shirts, polo shirts in pique and a line of cardigans, sweatshirts and pants. Techmerino was launched as part of the Zegna Sport FW2013 collection with immediate success due to its high technical performance. It is highly breathable, facilitates the evaporation of watery vapor and provides perfect thermo-regulation against both cold and heat, keeping the skin dry and the body temperature constant.
The Capsule Collection which is inspired by the outfits of the crew, can be purchased at selected Ermenegildo Zegna global stores or via the e-store within Zegna.com from Spring 2014.
