The renowned Milanese jewellery brand, Pomellato, has ventured into Dubai with the opening of its new flagship boutique at The Dubai Mall. This ‘sparkling’ new store occupies forty five square metres of space on the ground floor of the mall and exudes a warm, welcoming aura with large brightly-lit windows, embellished with bronze frames and shaded by wooden lacquered slatted gates. The interiors ooze charm with sophisticated cream-coloured panels on the walls and subtle silk carpets.
At the new boutique customers can try out their selections, whilst seated on the bright red seats placed below black and white veined marble counters. Situated across the wall is a five metre high, enchanting light sculpture made up of fabric panels and backlit gold coloured glasses, welcoming guests into the store. Three bronze framed glass cabinets, showcasing Pomellato’s intricate jewellery, become the cynosure of all eyes upon entry.
The boutique will house Pomellato’s most precious creations, among which, is the famed Nudo collection, which has been creating waves in the fashion community ever since its debut.. Pomellato’s ‘solitaire’ has become an icon of sorts, introducing the concept of stacking jewellery – an idea which succeeded in revolutionising the way jewellery is worn, all in line with the brand’s unconventional philosophy.
Pomellato started making jewellery in1967 and is credited with introducing the concept of prêt-à-porter jewellery – the idea that fine jewellery is not just a status symbol but an accessory that can be worn at any moment of the day and changed like clothes. By 1990s, Pomellato primarily focused on using coloured stones in their jewellery.
In 2007 Pomellato forayed into the making and selling of high-end jewellery, to celebrate the brand’s fortieth anniversary, with the launch of the Pom Pom collection – forty unique, precious pieces sold exclusively by appointment in New York, Paris, Milan and Monte Carlo.
