The new 2013 Infiniti FX sport-luxury crossover SUV has comes with additional enhancements, following a number of exterior and interior refinements made just last year. Now named the FX37, the biggest change in the performance crossover is the addition of a 3.7 litre VVEL V6, as compared to the 3.5 litre V6 of the previous model. The FX37 joins the FX50 AWD, another luxury crossover SUV, which features a standard 390-horsepower 5.0-litre VVEL V8, with Infiniti Intelligent All-Wheel Drive and paired with a standard 7-speed automatic.
The 2013 Infiniti FX37 luxury crossover incorporates Infiniti’s VVEL valve control technology, which constantly amends valve timing, enabling higher fuel efficiency and higher torque and improved emissions over conventional variable valve designs. The engine used delivers 329 horsepower and 360Nm torque, which is an increase of 26 horsepower and 0.5Nm respectively over the previous 3.5 litre V6. The electronically controlled throttle system has been tuned specifically for use in the FX37.
The new SUV also has the addition of the advanced Moving Objection Detection (MOD) to the Around View Monitor system. The MOD function helps enhance the driver’s situational awareness by providing visual and audible warnings if the system detects moving objects like another vehicle within the displayed image in situations such as when pulling out of a parking space. Using sophisticated image processing technology, the system detects moving objects within the ‘top view’ when the vehicle is parked.
The crossover also features Infiniti’s Park Guide Technology to assist with safe and easy parking. The system guides you using voice assistance, step by step, how best you can park once you find the ideal parking spot. During the parking manoeuvre, the guidance system continuously monitors the steering angle and vehicle position. A bird’s eye-view representation of the parking surroundings is shown on your display. All you need to do is to follow the suggested route shown via coloured guide lines.
Safety features include a seat belt reminder system, standard Infiniti Advanced Air Bag System (AABS), dual-stage front supplemental air bags with occupant classification and seat belt sensors, seat-mounted side-impact supplemental air bags, roof-mounted curtain side-impacts and rollover supplemental air bags for enhanced outboard seat occupant head-protection.
